Let’s be real, LinkedIn is a platform that is very difficult to grow in. Today it could show your posts to everyone, then tomorrow it hides your post from everyone and there’s nothing you can do about it and you don’t even know why this happened in the first place.
But stay consistent… because I’m here to tell you some of the secrets that most of us marketers know that use to our advantage to grow our LinkedIn accounts.
Tip 1: Stop Posting All The Time
Do you really think that if you post more you will grow more?
It’s not true.
Every consecutive post you make after your first daily post will be seen by less people – that’s just how LinkedIn’s algorithm works.
If you look at your stats, you’ll see the pattern that supports this statement.
Hence, you need to make sure to post once a day, or at most, twice.
If you’re doing two posts a day, wait at least 10 hours from when you posted the first time until you make your second post. This is crucial and I strongly suggest you follow these instructions.
Tip 2: Stop Adding External Links
Let me put it this way so you can understand. You need to think of LinkedIn like a jealous partner.
They hate it when we look at somebody else or even recommend someone else to our friends or family.
LinkedIn doesn’t like it when someone is recommended to leave the LinkedIn platform, so don’t make posts that have external links that give your connections a chance to leave the LinkedIn platform.
If LinkedIn’s algorithm picks up on a link in any of your posts, it’ll immediately decrease the reach of the post because it doesn’t want more people to leave the platform. LinkedIn wants users to stay on LinkedIn and be engaged on LinkedIn as much as they can and you should be using this knowledge to your advantage to create more engaging LinkedIn posts while others are trying to send people out of LinkedIn.
Tip 3: Use Storytelling Marketing To Express Your Message Better
There’s no other way to put it except by just saying it out loud. Storytelling marketing is more powerful than normal marketing.
Even though people know this, people refuse to use stories to market themselves and instead focus on copying what works for everybody else.
This is the wrong approach.
When we first discovered we could use comics as part of our marketing strategy, we thought it wouldn’t make much of a difference, but we were extremely incorrect.
It wasn’t until we started seeing the results of our first few posts that implemented these storytelling marketing tactics that we realised how powerful it was.
Easily more than 10x engagement rate compared to normal marketing posts on LinkedIn.
This is not a coincidence.
People like people and people like stories because they can relate to those stories. So make sure to tell your story, you’d be surprised at how many people will relate to it and look up to you for it.
