Over the past few years, educational development is drastically becoming high in Australia to keep up with the international standards. Many states in Australia updated their curriculum and teaching pattern to match the overall Australian standard. Teaching methods like Montessori have been adopted to train the kids right from their childhood. For example, if we take Victoria, even childcare in Preston, preschools and even babysitters in some states have started teaching children simple, effective ways of teaching to lay a strong foundation for their education. Making education must be both fun and informative to learn, so knowing this fact, Australia has made many changes in the education system.
The education system in Australia
The education system in Australia implemented a structure called the Australian qualification framework, which is further divided into four parts, namely primary school, secondary school, senior secondary and tertiary education.
Primary school
In Australia, children must start their schooling before six years of age. The primary school is divided into seven grades starting from the foundation. Right before primary school, children are exposed to learning and activities are given accordingly. Primary schools majorly focus on improving essential literacy, basic math and basic awareness of the environment around the children.
Secondary school
Secondary school education consists of grade 7 to 10.secondary school education programs vary from school to school, and this is an important part of school education since this is the period children are exposed to various subjects such as mathematics, civics, English, science, business, economics and geography. Therefore, grading is indicated with alphabets (A+, A, B, etc.) versus percentage for secondary school children.
Senior secondary
A senior secondary grading system is the same as that of secondary school. The 11th and 12th years are part of this period. Children can continue with the same subjects (mathematics, economics, English etc.) from senior secondary, which are designed increasingly specialised. Once the students complete their senior secondary education, a certificate of completion is provided. This certificate is important in joining for further education.
Tertiary education
Tertiary education is the next level after senior secondary which contains both vocational education and training (VET) and higher education. A bachelor’s degree can be obtained through completing a diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree. A diploma is pursued either directly via VET after secondary education or after the senior secondary school education. Advanced diploma and associate degree can be done only after completing senior secondary education. VET is only valid after completing four certificate programs. Bachelor’s honours degree is also a part of the system which can be studied with the help of a senior secondary certificate.
The students who have completed their bachelor’s degree or diploma graduation are further eligible for the master’s program. After masters, interested students who want to research deeper into the subject can opt for doctoral degrees.
Standard of education
Since education is made easier for children from their childhood (ex. Childcare in Preston, preschool in various states) to bachelors with exceptional curriculum and efficient way of learning they have good knowledge over the subjects. This strong foundation has increased the standard of education year over year, and this factor has attracted many international students to seek their higher education in Australia. Degrees from Australian universities have more recognition globally. The employment rate is higher in Australia due to its high-quality education and improved standards.
